EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION

 

The Cultural Resources Council of Syracuse and Onondaga County, Inc. seeks a visionary administrator for the position of Executive Director.  The Executive Director will be expected to lead this dynamic organization in a time of transition and change.

 

The Executive Director should promote the work of the Council and serve as an advocate for the public value of arts and culture in Central New York. Critically important will be the ability to lead the board and staff to increase public, private and foundation support for Central New York’s cultural community.

 

Externally, the position requires strategic thinking, strong communication skills, effective creative problem-solving and the ability to work with many different constituencies: governmental, artistic, civic, business, cultural and educational groups as well as contributors and sponsors.  The Executive Director must have a strong commitment to diversity.

 

Internally, the successful candidate will supervise and motivate an existing professional staff of six and hire when appropriate. The Executive Director should provide leadership in program direction, fundraising, grant writing and board development. A proven record of excellence in financial management will be expected to show the candidate’s ability to supervise finance and budgeting processes to manage an operational budget of $850,000 and demonstrate due diligence for the funds entrusted to the Council management.

 

A master’s degree or equivalent education and work experience in arts, public or business administration is required. A minimum of 6 years of professional work experience in progressively responsible positions including budgetary and financial oversight, three of which will have been in a direct supervisory capacity.
